Put one foot in front of the other

Brinkley and I enjoy taking a morning walk together. I put on my tennis shoes and she gets in her stroller (um, with my help of course) and we walk the streets of our neighborhood. We love that people sit out on their porches and say hello, and we like to look at people's flower gardens and wish that ours had flowers too (ours just has a dead rose bush that the neighbor chopped down to a stump). It's fun to look at all the different houses and appreciate the character that Pittsburgh has. We also live close to the Allegheny River and there are bridges all over the place. It's beautiful.Pittsburgh is very different walking than I'm used to though. For one, the sidewalks are really crappy. No worries, the jogging stroller handles the bumps and crookedness like a genius so Brinkley doesn't get whiplash. There's also two options. One, I could take the crazy sidewalk, or I could take the backroads. These are roads that run between the backs of houses (so, rather than being in front of all the houses, you are looking at their backyards instead). These roads are a little smoother than the sidewalks, but they're also covered in garbage. See, we don't have normal big black garbage cans like they do in Utah. No, you just throw all your trash out on the street and they come pick it up. Some people do have garbage bins, but most just have it all in bags and pile it at their back fence. This shocked me at first, but you just get used to things. I'm hoping to come across something really great one day that someone is throwing out. Like how my former neighbor Tom Nelson got a banjo out of the garbage once. I'll let you know if I find anything good. I know that sounds gross, but you just never know.
One last unique thing that I've noticed on our walks is that sometimes, you'll run into a street that isn't your typical street. For example, the photo below... That is a set of stairs. And yes, that is a street sign in front of it. Good luck getting the stroller up that right?

Wow, sometimes I wish we lived somewhere else just so we could see all the cool things around. What a cute girl Brinkley is, and it looks like she handled the baseball game like a pro!

Hayley, "Pitt" looks so beautiful! I'm sorry about the crappy sidewalks, but i loved the comment about Brinkley not getting whiplash :) You're such a good Mom! I think that as soon as you settled enough to go take walks in the neighborhood that is saying something - I still haven't reached that status in Ohio yet :) Keep updating! Daniel and I love it! There are never enough pics of your adorable little family! ;)
