Well, she did it.
She just headed off to her First Day of UPK
(Universal Pre-K, is what it is called here)
ON A BUS! A big bus.
She woke up on time (and miraculously, so did I) and was so excited! The first thing she said was:
"School!"
We anxiously waited outside for the bus for about a half hour.
Every bus that drove by gave me the butterflies, Brinkley just jumped around in anticipation hoping it was hers. I hope she doesn't pee on the bus or something. She promised she didn't need to go. Good thing I packed extra clothes in her backpack. :)
She wasn't scared or anything. She is so brave! A BUS?? For preschool?
It just seems so big.
But her bus driver was so nice and reassured me he'd get her to the right place. :)
I didn't cry. I thought I would because I almost did last night.
But seeing her so happy and excited made it so easy.
As she drove away, Darcy said "Binky's truck!"
So, I guess we'll wait a couple hours and wait for Binky's truck again.
Good luck my big girl. You have grown up so much.
I love you more than you'll ever know. You are beautiful and smart and so talented. I just know you're going to knock the socks off of your teachers. They'll love how well you draw and color. They'll be impressed with how much you love books. I know you'll make friends so easily, you always do.
You're going to be great.
Okay, now I'm crying.
She's there in the front seat waving, though you can't see her in the picture.
And driving away in "Binky's truck."

Ah, I'm already scared for that day. And I'm kind of jealous about Antique week:).
Guess what? Brinkley and Shelby are in the same UPK class! We were waiting at the preschool to see Shelby get off the bus (I'm a mommy freak about that, I guess) and I saw her get off the transfer bus that Shelby rode, too. I talked to Brinkley in the classroom and explained that Shelby was the girl that had the tea party, but I don't think she understood. In retrospect, I probably added confusion to her probably already big and overwhelming day - so sorry! I was just excited they'd be in class together, even if they don't remember each other!
