Ah. My baby turned 2.
Wait. Hasn't she been two for like a year already? Feels like it.
Not the statement you were expecting?
Well, when your spunky girl has been in the the terrible two stage since 18 months old, time slows down.
On her special day she was of the attitude:
"It's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to."
And she can, because it's her birthday.
We were so nice to her all day. She didn't have to share anything if she didn't want to!
I'm sad to report it was a rather uneventful birthday.
Went to Walmart to get a big ball.
Went to the library.
(We met a friend there, we meet on Mondays. Cool huh?)
Had a picnic in the backyard.
Darcy took a nap.
When she woke up we ate dinner with dad before he had to go to work.
(Josh had to work the graveyard, so between working and sleeping he was only around for about an hour of it. During which we shoved dinner into our faces really fast and still didn't have time to share cake with him. Sad.)
Darcy opened presents.
Played with presents.
Ate cake and ice cream.
Skyped with Grandma and Grandpa and Rachael.
Went to bed.
:)
I feel kind of bad that is was a bit of a lame-o day.
Birthdays are usually such a highlight around here.
Perhaps it's that dad wasn't able to be around. We might have to get used to that.
Or maybe it's because mom is in a funk and can't seem to catch up to life.
On the brightside, she is only two and even though it felt lame to me, I think she did have a fun day.
And I did get the banner hung. That's pretty good.
Peanut butter and jelly, Darcy style.
Brinks enjoying her pb&j
Brinkley was such a helper! And so excited to help. She stirred up all the cake ingredients. Taped ALL of the presents. And drew Darcy this fabulous picture.
She says: "It's Darcy with no hair. And that's a 2."
The loot.
Awake from her birthday nap.
You're probably thinking, goldfish? for a birthday?
Yep.
And she was extremely happy about them too.
She LOVES babies! So we got her a new stroller and a little shopping cart in which she can put her babies.
Sucker from Grandma Ginny.
Sorry if I sound like a Debbie Downer. I probably should not be blogging about this today. It's a bad day!
We all have 'em.
To lighten the mood here's some things we love about our 2 year old!
-Everything she says is cute. We love to hear her say these words: two, a-waaay, tute (cute), ya-ya (giraffe), lella (any sort of girl toy), bacon (blanket), pwease (please), i keem (ice cream), cake, baby, where'd it go?, where are you?, eh-is (there it is), ya you (love you), wa wa (water), fiss (goldfish)
-She loves to SING! Our favorite is when she sings the word 'a-way.' I really should try and record it. So cute.
-She loves books
-She is an excellent sleeper. She still takes long naps and goes to bed so easily. Love it.
-She says 'hi' to everyone she sees. She is a very friendly little gal.
-Her favorite toys are babies and Tinker toys.
-Favorite food would have to be cheese.
-Though, she still puts a lot of non-food items in her mouth. All the time. Crayons? Yep. Rocks, sure. stickers, mmm hmm. And she even swallowed a penny the other day. Haven't seen it come out yet.
-She doesn't have patience to wait for my attention. "Want cheese. MOM! cheese. MOM!!! MOM!! Cheese?
-Darcy might end up being a track star. She is SO FAST!
- Her lips are so cute when they are puckered up for a kiss.
-She just started showing interest in movies. Particularly Elmo.
-She is definitely showing interest in potty training and would probably be trained already if mom would get on the ball. She goes #2 before bed every night on her potty! Pretty impressive.
-Her job every night is to get the Book of Mormon off the dresser for family scripture study and then put them away. She is awesome.
-She occasionally snuggles. Best ever.
-Still very little hair. Still a tiny little thing. Still those big brown eyes.
Love her so much.
