Hello Syracuse, New York

It's still crazy to me that Josh and I both come from Syracuse, Utah and now we live in Syracuse, New York.
The folks here seem to think that's pretty funny too.

Our move when so smooooth. I never thought that would be the case.
Josh drove the gigantic Penske Truck, with trailer hitched on the back.
I drove the car with the girls. It took eight hours total.
That seems like a recipe for a nightmare, right?
It wasn't so bad. Even with Darcy only taking a 45 minute nap.
Both kids were surprisingly pleasant.
Josh didn't crash into any houses or anything. Quite the contrary actually. I told him if being a doctor doesn't work out, he should consider driving a big rig. He handled that thing like a pro.
And we used walkie-talkies. :)
We arrived at our new little house late, so we grabbed cereal and milk and the store and ate it on our new kitchen floor.
Brinks slept in a sleeping bag on the floor. Darcy, the pack and play.
Josh got the couch cushions. I got the crib mattress.
I think Darcy got the long straw that first night.
The next morning we started unpacking at 7:30 a.m. Help from the new ward came at 9:45 ish.
It didn't take long.

We were there a week unpacking things and getting somewhat settled and then we headed off to Utah for 2 weeks.
We've been back a week and a half and I still haven't decorated.
Not one bit. I have not hung one thing on the walls.
What's wrong with me?? This is the fun part. But I'm in a funk apparently.
I'm just waiting for the funk to go away and then I can get busy.

Until then, you get the undecorated pictures.
Sorry.
I really wanted decorated pictures to post. But that keeps not happening.
Without further ado, here is the official tour of our new, cute house:
The outside. The flowers are from our Landlord. Isn't that sweet?
Too bad we killed them when we went to Utah and neglected them.
They were gone when we got back. Sad.

Walk in the front door, and this is what you see. Stairs going to the... upstairs!

Off to the left is the family room. Those are our new couches. I adore them. And so far they hold up to the children very well. Pay no attention to our very old TV. We still have not even hooked it up. It just sits there looking... dated.

Off to the right is the dining room. I almost didn't post this picture because it is such a disaster in there. But then my tour wouldn't be complete and that would just annoy me. So, here you go. A dining room complete with breakfast on the table, our bags packed for Utah, toys and stuff on the floor, etc.

Behind the dining room is the kitchen. It's the nicest kitchen we've had yet in our 6.5 years of marriage. It was the first room I arranged. I can't stand a chaotic kitchen.
Which reminds me, I need to reorganize that corner cupboard. It calls out to me in my sleep "I'm messy Hayley, fix me!"
Behind the family room is the playroom. Technically, it's the 3rd bedroom, but we decided it would be weird to have just one of the kids sleeping downstairs and there would be no place for the toys. So, we have opted to have them share a room upstairs and we use this as the toy room. Best choice ever. The toys {mostly} stay contained, and the girls actually enjoy sharing a room.
Not that they've said that, I just assume since we haven't had any issues.

In between the kitchen and playroom is the bathroom (straight across from this is the door to the basement). I love that it is on the main floor. I also love that it is not right by Darcy's room so we don't wake her from her naps!

This is Brinkley's side of the girl's bedroom.

 ...And Darcy's side.

And finally, this is our room. I also didn't want to post this picture because my orange comforter looks so awful in there. Oh, there's so much I want to do with this room.

When does that first paycheck come???

Anyway. Hope you enjoyed. It's quaint right? I shall be posting new pictures as I nest the house up a bit more. Stay tuned.

We like it. And we like that it smells good here.
{Our old house smelled like natural gas. Turns out, Ty, our friend who moved in there after us, found a big hole in a pipe. We were indeed leaking gas. As if I ever doubted that. I'm very, very upset at our old landlord who would not fix it for us. I'm tempted to write them a mean letter or something.}

I'm glad to see you made it okay. I'm glad ward members could help you unpack. But I can't believe you slept on a crib mattress! The house looks nice. Like Shelly, I love the colors too.

your house looks so lovely hayley! i'm glad you posted "before" pictures so we can see all your decorative touches as they come. so i wonder if that was your lantern we saw as we were having our last barbecue at our pittsburgh house? a group of about 30 of us watched one fly over head for about 5 minutes. wouldn't that be cool? i'm in a decorating funk, too. my walls are still bare. i think that's just what moving does to ya. here's to us getting out of our funk. :)

I'm glad you guys are getting settled. You're house is cute :) funny that the kitchen in this new place of yours is the nicest you've had in your marriage because I keep thinking the kitchen i now have is the nicest we've had in our 4 years of marriage. Thanks for letting us take it ;)

Your house looks perfect! I'm jealous of your playroom and downstairs bathroom! I'm also excited to see all your decorating ideas. Maybe, since we don't live right next to each other anymore, I can steal some. hehe

The lantern looked like so much fun! You said it was from Walmart? I'll have to keep my peepers peeled.

Miss you so very very VERY much!
