To start things off, I just have to say, I can be the worst mom ever.
We did not pass out candy.
We did not trick or treat.
I did not take official Halloween pictures of my kids... yet.
Having said that, we did have a very Happy Halloween.
Full of traditions, new and old!
We also had a friend of Josh's from school over for the evening.
Dan.
I hope he had as much fun as we did!
What a great guest he was! He brought us flowers.
But they were mostly for me because I made all the food.
But he did insist on helping with the dishes, so I probably owe him now!
I made my family's traditional chili and bones.
I went all out on the bones this year! I made a full body wheat bread skeleton!
Which, both Dan and Josh agreed was pretty anatomically correct.
They would know. They are in med school. And I knew they would appreciate.
Pat me on the back.

And here is the beautiful pumpkin that held our spicy, yummy, vegetarian chili
(Dan prefers his chili meatless. I am so nice).
I roasted up the seeds today. Yum yum.

If you are wondering what the new tradition was, let me tell you.
We drank green slime.
It was absolutely delightful. And good for us too!
I'm not kidding. Probably the best slime I've ever had.
I may have to extend this tradition to, oh, I don't know, everyday perhaps?

We had a small infestation of spiders. They were on the walls, on our cups, in our ice. Everywhere!

I wish I would have gotten a picture of us eating our tasty meal. But I didn't. This lame-o picture will have to do.
I told you it was lame.
For dessert we had a little thing called Tim Tam Slams.
So incredibly delectable they deserve their very own post.
I kid you not.
More on those to come later. Just to keep you hanging.
So, even though we did not do the real Halloween bit with the candy, I thought it was a nice, relaxing evening.
And even though I love candy, I am kind of glad it's not laying around the house tempting me. Because I know I would scarf it all right down.

I think you deserve the Great Mom award. It's given to mom's who do really cool new traditions that their kids love. I know, because I LOVED when my mom would do that. So kudos to you!
I've had tim tam slams! Derrick had them in Taiwan...he said they were the missionary "initiation." VERY rich and HUGE sugar rush!
