It's no secret, I've said it before:
I am not a morning person!
And lately it seems harder than usual to get up in the morning, especially since Brinkley seems to be getting up earlier... and earlier.
Every morning, she wakes up and yells for someone to come and get her out of her crib. In my still-mostly-asleep state, I bury my head deeper into my pillow and pretend I can't hear. Not too long later, Josh brings her in, plops her down by me and says 'It's time for me to go. Are you awake enough to make sure she doesn't fall off the bed?' I grudgingly mumble 'yes.'
Fortunately, the scary thought of Brinkley falling off the bed makes me get up!
But not lately...
You see, I discovered a beautiful combination: her bedroom floor, my pillow and extra sleep.
I figured out that if I go to her bedroom, close the door and just lay there, she doesn't care if I'm awake or asleep. She just wants me close! Then she is content to play by herself for about an hour!
So, I dump out a bucket of toys, put her sippy cup close and let her run a muck! She crawls around, climbs up each piece of furniture a few times, occasionally comes over and pulls my hair, and makes a big mess (but that's easy to clean up!) And all I have to say is:
Oh Blessed Sleep!

I LOVE this post! SOOOO True! haha. I was giggling at yor strategy! I do the same thing, but with Chance watching cartoons and Kami playing with toys and me crashed out on he couch! I sometimes wish I could sleep ALL DAY! How would that be?
That's so funny. I could have written this post!! Tyler does the exact same thing in the mornings. Kayden isn't as happy to just let me sleep though, he likes attention. But I've found if I go in the living room, put on some cartoons, get out some toys and crash on the couch, he's lasts a little longer!!!
To bad you can't just re-train Brinks to be a nighthawk like you. Oh well, looks like she is like you because she can entertain herself for a few hours all by herself...so you've got something going for you.
hahah, I would do that same thing for sure!
Very clever! But, it only lasts so long...I know!
You are so stinkin cute!
Oh, and I can't wait to make that yummie soup you just posted!
Wish I were there!
